Last Sunday saw the annual Farnham Charity Ride and once again the Damarel team did not disappoint! 14 riders ditched their computers, donned their lycra and dug out their bikes to head for the sunny Surrey countryside in aid of a number of charities, including the Phyliss Tuckwell Hospice. This thoroughly deserving local charity helps manage pain and improve the quality of life for patients and families coping with advanced or terminal illness.
Our intrepid team was the usual mixture of dedicated two-wheel nuts, occasional leisure cyclists and, most impressive of all, those who “last rode twenty years ago but I’ll give it a go!”. They completed the whole course as a group and crossed the finish line together – perfect teamwork! As ever, our MD hosted the traditionally raucous and somewhat chaotic post-ride drinks and BBQ, while everyone swapped hugely embellished stories from the ride and compared saddle sores. A great way to finish!
With Damarel matching all sponsorship contributions, our staff have been supporting local charities through amazing fund raising events such as this for over 20 years. The money raised over that time has helped a whole range of good causes to provide much needed services and is one way in which we support the local community.
This year we’re delighted to announce that the team and everyone who supported them managed to raise over £1,200 for worthy causes. A fantastic achievement!
Farnham Bike Ride and Sportive is an annual event in which thousands of cyclists choose from 4 different circular courses around the glorious Surrey countryside. All abilities are welcome, so why not make sure you are a part of our team next year and help some great charities?
