Passengers travelling on Monarch Airlines flights out of Manchester and Birmingham can now check themselves in at home, thanks to a link up between check-in on the Monarch web-site, www.flymonarch.com, and L-DCS. Between 24 and 4 hours before departure, passengers can use the Monarch web site to check themselves in and print their own boarding passes. This 2D bar coded pass can then be used to go through the airport security check points and allows the passenger to proceed directly to the boarding gate, where it can also be read for automated boarding.

Any passengers with bags can also make use of the Fast Bag Drop facility provided by the airport. With built in support for 2D Barcode Readers, L-DCS enables the rapid retrieval of passenger records for baggage editing and tag printing, keeping queuing time down and speeding passengers through to Departures.

All web checked passengers are imported directly into the L-DCS database before the check-in opens at the airport, with the information transferred using a standard IATA PNL or ADL.

Damarel is currently in the process of expanding this capability to other carriers, allowing them to use their own CRS for basic check-in and making sure they don’t miss out on the home check-in revolution.
