As we are all aware, the aviation industry has seen a significantly increased focus on security over the last few years, with many new initiatives put in place throughout the passenger handling process. As part of their ongoing refinement of passenger safety and security systems, both the USA and Canadian Authorities have recently introduced Enhanced APIS, a UN/EDIFACT version of the existing US system.

Enhanced APIS includes support for gathering additional information about the passenger, including Country of Residence and address details for the first night of stay, all encapsulated in an updated message format.

L-DCS has now been certified by both authorities for use with this security program, enabling our customers to fully comply with these new mandatory regulations. 

In order to reduce the impact of these requirements at check-in, L-DCS:

• automatically prompts the agent for the passenger details, with a clear form-fill input mask
• inhibits check-in until all details have been entered, ensuring compliance
• supports OCR devices for rapidly and automatically reading passport details
• automatically generates and transmits UN/EDIFACT messages

Switching over to UN/EDIFACT is controlled on a country-by-country basis, and L-DCS can still produce US/EDIFACT messages for those countries that require it, such as Mexico and China.
