2D or not 2D - no longer a question!

ImageThe IATA 2D Bar Coded Boarding Pass (BCBP) initiative has the potential to save the aviation industry a phenomenal $1.5 billion annually. With a mandated completion date by the end of 2010, the pressure is on airlines, airports and operators to get on board.

The phasing out of the traditional magnetic stripe boarding passes and shift to the BCBP system can prove to be a major challenge; even more so for those operating in countries where resources, technology and the appropriate infrastructure are not always readily available. Some are ahead of the curve, however, and at the forefront of these changes is Cambodia Airport Management Services (CAMS), who perform all of the ground handling functions at Phnom Penh and Siam Reap airports; handling approximately 40,000 flights and 3.2 million passengers per annum.

ImageBy employing Damarel’s Embark, Babel CLF and L-DCS products, CAMS were entirely 2D BCBP compliant by the end of 2009, one year ahead of schedule! This is a tremendous achievement for CAMS, and Damarel are proud to have helped them drive the project forward, delivering all the benefits of 2D BCBP benefits to their customers.
