Manchester International Airport L-DCS Case Study PDF Print E-mail
Manchester International Airport

In early 2001 Manchester Airport took the decision to adopt L-DCS as a part of the service portfolio they offered to their handling agents and airlines, ensuring that they all had access to an automated DCS for their Charter and Low Cost operators.

In this way Manchester, one of the busiest regional airports in the UK, were ensuring that passenger handling operations were as efficient as possible, helping to streamline the current process and ensure that they had capacity for the planned growth in passenger figures.

Targeted to run on the ARINC MUSE CUTE platform, L-DCS was immediately adopted by First Choice Airlines, a major charter airline.  L-DCS offered fully automated check-in and boarding, at a fraction of traditional host prices, allowing the handling agents to process passengers much more quickly and professionally, reducing congestion at both the check-in counter and the gate.

L-DCS was quickly taken up by the other handling agents at Manchester, Servisair Penauille, Manchester Handling and Menzies. The handled airline list now includes all of the major charter and low cost operators, including First Choice Airlines, Jet2.com, Thomsonfly, Monarch, MyTravel and Excel, as well as many smaller carriers.

Now handling over 5 million departing passengers every year on L-DCS, making it one of the most heavily used systems of its kind in the world, Manchester has also rolled out Kiosk check-in and 3rd Party web check-in, giving passengers more choice about how they use the airport.

LodeStone provides rapid, accurate load control facilities, automatically transferring the required information such as passenger figures and baggage pieces and weight from L-DCS, and sending out all the relevant post-departure messages. For more information about LodeStone, please click here.
